1. Have your Cell phone ready! It is VERY IMPORTANT to have your cell phone on and ready. Santa will text you on his way to you home visit.
2. DO NOT USE GIFT BAGS FOR GIFTS....If you plan to leave some gifts for Santa to deliver during the visit place them inside a garbage sack near the front door or at the side of your garage. Write the names clearly ON THE WRAPPING PAPER WITH A MARKER. Do not use gift tags as they tend to fall off. Also DO NOT USE GIFT SACKS unless they are taped shut, because when Santa transfers the gifts to his sack they often turn upside down and the contents spill out.
3. Your guests should arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time of the visit. This gets the atmosphere primed for a fun visit. Besides, nothing is worse than Santa walking up the sidewalk when a car drives up and the occupants catch Santa outside. This happens too many times each year and is easy to avoid.
4. Make sure you have enough memory on your phone for pictures.
5. Help Santa make the magic...Please have your blinds drawn and your children inside . Also, tell your children prior to Santa's visit that he only flies his reindeer to your house on Christmas Eve...otherwise he flies them to the nearest airport :-) that help explains why he enters and exits thru the front door.
6. Have a sturdy chair set up prior to the visit. Santa prefers an armless chair, no rockers please. You should place the chair near a nice focal point (Tree, Mantle, etc) so your pictures look great.
7. Your attention please.... This is a performance and the little ones are easily distracted. Please tune the TV to Sounds of the Season music channel or turn it off. Also, older folks should gather around and get in on the action..if they don't want to participate please be courteous and take the conversations out of ear shot. Santa uses his voice a lot during the season, and tends to loose it when he has to try and talk over loud crowds of adults and children.
8. Make sure everyone gets a picture with Santa. We usually take pictures at the beginning of the visit, so Santa has time to chit chat and perform without multiple picture settings.
9. When the visit is over, Santa prefers to be compensated by receiving a "Christmas Card". This is the most inconspicuous way to pay Santa so the children are not the wiser. Please DO NOT attempt to tape the envelope to the door or put it with the gifts to be delivered, as it is to easy to misplace it during the visit.
10. Upon leaving your house/visit. Help Santa out, do not let the kids follow him outside the front door. By doing so it just adds to the mystic and lore of Santa.
11. Although Santa tries to stay on schedule it is not uncommon for him to run a little behind on occasion. He wants to give your visit his full attention, just like the visits prior to yours. So please understand that he could be running a bit behind . Although he is usually right on time or maybe even a bit early. Santa will most always keep in communication via text...so have your phones handy.
